We had a low-key holiday since we needed a rest after all the traveling & family stuff, so we just went out for Korean food & a movie. We ate at a new place on 35th St. called Madangsui, which had good food & service, but was a bit pricy. The only thing I have a slight issue with is the case of raw meat that greets you right inside the door & the photos of raw meat on the walls. Why must Korean restaurants do that - wouldn't it look much more appetizing cooked? Are they catering to the vampire crowd?
Then we saw Transformers. Very disappointing. Don't go see it. Especially not if you're a big Transformers fan like Ken. Last nite he made me watch the original Transformers animated movie again b/c he felt so betrayed by the live action movie. It's so wrong that the original movie has only a 42% RT rating while the new movie has a 57% rating.
I think the one kind of interesting thing about the new movie is that it could be read as a pro-military & even pro-Iraq War movie. The Pentagon approved the screenplay in a bid to appeal to their targeted demographic of 18-24 year-old men. But here's an article Ken found that argues the movie does the opposite.
