21 Weeks

Here's a couple photos from our most recent ultrasound at 21 weeks. At this point, the nurse and doctor could tell what the sex of the baby is, but Ken & I have decided to keep it a surprise. In the second picture, you can see the mouth is a little open. Baby was swallowing a lot of amniotic fluid while we were watching. So far, he/she seems perfectly healthy - thank goodness!

Also, why is it that whenever you try to get your husband or significant other to feel the baby move, the baby of course stops moving? It's like Murphy's Law or something. Well, Ken finally felt the baby move this week. Yay!

Recent Movies

We've seen a lot of animated films recently. Last night, we watched the 2009 Oscar-Nominated Animated Short Films, which were very enjoyable. Over the last few weeks, we've also seen Les Triplettes de Belville, a French animated movie, which was very good; Renaissance, a French animated noir entirely in black & white, which was excellent; and Sky Blue (or Wonderful Days), a Korean animated film that was unfortunately not very good.

Of the non-animated films we've seen lately, we saw Natural City, which was touted as the "Korean Blade Runner," but was semi-terrible, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which I thought was very good.

13 weeks

Today we had another ultrasound and some more bloodwork taken as part of the 1st Trimester Screening, which tests for Down Syndrome and other birth defects. The ultrasound was even clearer than the last time. The baby was moving around a lot - it seemed like it had the hiccups! We saw the heart beating again and also saw all 4 limbs. In this picture, the baby is lying on its back and the legs are folded up so you can't really see them, but you can see the right hand lifted up near the baby's face.

Bolt

Ken & I saw Bolt in 3D last night, which was really very cute and quite funny. Definitely worth seeing :)

Happy 2009!

Happy New Year! :) We spent a fun, low-key New Year's Eve over at Victor & Emi's. We got to see Elijah for a quick goodnight and then he was whisked away to bed. One funny thing was that we watched Dick Clark's NYE show but missed the ball drop b/c their Tivo changed the channel at just the wrong moment. Ah well!

New Year's Day we had dduk guk, Korean New Year's Day rice cake soup, at Kum Gang San with Yun Joo, Marc & Vivian, who's 4 months now and very cute!

Expecting!

Ken & I are extremely happy to announce that we're having a baby! We had our first ultrasound at 11 weeks. We could see the baby's heartbeat and s/he even kicked, which was very cool to see! It's much clearer on the monitor in the doctor's office, but in the picture, the baby is lying on its left side, facing the camera, with the head to the right and you can see the arm and leg buds.

If everything goes well, the new addition to the Lee/Pak tribe will arrive in mid-July 2009! For right now, we're just telling our family and close friends.
